A plea to young Chinese school graduates

My friend dropped by in JB last night to see me on her way to Singapore.

This is my friend I had previously written about here...What a DAP girl want

Yup, the very same pro-DAP girl who wanted Guan Eng instead of Anwar Ibrahim as the next PM.

We had dinner at an expensive Japanese restaurant in Taman Pelangi. Her salary is twice bigger than mine, so, she was the one who paid for it.  Very nice dinner leh.

Ok Ok, I know the pictures look different. Of course those are not her real pictures. You all think I'm crazy ka want to put my friend's real pictures here? The pictures I put here are actually the closest I could find which resembles her. Last time she used to have this eye make-up which made her eyes look so big. Last night however she looked normal.

Anyway, as usual we talked about politics.

Being a Chinese and passionate DAP supporter, she enjoys my feed-backs, particularly because I seems to be a rather liberal non-Chinese. Probably it's no fun to talk to fellow DAP gang all the time as they will just agree with one another.  With me, my views from her differ but I do not hantam her too much for her political stand as I understand her background and the reasons why she dislikes the BN government.

And as usual, she complained about things such as what she described to be the discrimination against the Chinese community, corrupt BN government, stupidly arrogant Umno people, useless MCA guys etc etc. I just let my friend go on and on, except interrupting her here and there a bit to explain my side of pro-BN argument. Just the usual DAP-BN ding dong. No need to elaborate on those lah.

Ok, the one I am really interested about what my friend told me last night was the shortage of teachers at Chinese schools. I understand why she got quite agitated about the whole thing. She is a Chinese school graduate and was passionate about it.

I had read somewhere about the issue....about the United Chinese School Committee's Association (Dong Zhong) accusing the government of purposely assigning teachers who are not fluent in Mandarin to teach in Chinese schools and thus being dishonest about solving the shortage of teachers at those schools.

I even heard that Dong Zhong is even planning to hold a huge demo soon on the issue. Something like the DAP-led Lynas demo in Kuantan that day.

It just so happened that several days earlier, I met a friend, who is a high ranking official in the Education Ministry and we happened to talk about the Chinese school issue.

He explained that the government had since last year revoked a requirement which made it a must for anyone who want to be a teacher , including those to teach at Chinese schools to score a credit in Bahasa Malaysia of the SPM. This is so because many Chinese school graduates didn't do well in that subject.

The revocation of that requirement however didn't do too much good to the enrollment of teachers trainees from among Chinese school graduates.

"There are simply no takers," my Education Ministry friend said.

"We got no choice but to send those Malay teachers who are not well verse in Mandarin to the Chinese schools to help overcome the shortage of teachers there," he added.

If he is telling the truth, I think Dong Zhong could do well to plead to Chinese school graduates to apply to be teacher trainees to help their schools overcome the shortage instead of having to endure the government's "lack of sincerity" in overcoming the issue as it keep sending Malay teachers instead.

Of course I am not asking people like my friend, the DAP supporter, to quit her well paying job to become a teacher at a Chinese school. That's asking too much, despite her having a degree in education from a very prestigious Taiwan university. The pay of a teacher is pittance compared to her salary.

I am instead just asking for the younger Chinese school graduates who just started life to consider becoming a teacher instead of aspiring to set up a beauty saloon or automobile workshop.

I know, even selling pirated DVDs can earn more than being a teacher but this is for the sake of the Chinese community. A sacrifice most noble. You may not become rich like your friends, but you will earn the respect of your community.

Rais and gang should do better (UPDATED)

UPDATED

For the latest stupidity on this subject, please click here -  Victims of Badu .
Lodging a police report over such a silly thing....now I am seriously thinking that PM DS Najib Razak need a new Information Minister.

ORIGINAL POSTING

There seems to be a bit of rumblings over the past few days among pro-BN bloggers over an allegation that a PM's media adviser and a young PMO officer saying bad things about them.

When I heard about it, I was a bit miffed for a moment. Then, I was like errrrr....so what? What's the big deal?

I thought blogging is for those who want to write about what ever hell one wants. It's not about pleasing anyone else. People like to read our blog , then nice la. Don't want to read, ok also. PMO said our blog are crap...SO? BIG DEAL IS IT?

I don't think so. At least that's the way I see it.

Then again, I am new in this blogging thing. Not even six months yet.

For one, I really don't understand the obsession of some who want to be the No 1 blogger in Malaysia. You all getting paid for that ka?

Hmmm...maybe you do, but, what's the fun in writing with such a motive? It's like having sex but knowing you are just a prostitute being used for other's gratification. The money may be good but can you sleep at night ka? I know, I can't.

Well, if people give you money so that you can earn a living and operate your blog for the good of all....then, ok la. I can understand that. But to take payment to write fallacies...????...and threatening people with our writings so that they pay us....???? That's vile man.

A prominent blogger actually called me this morning and told me not to believe in that allegations against the PM's people.

Considering that this handsome guy normally only wakes up about noon and today he was making a call so early in the morning just to caution me about such nonsense, means the whole thing could be quite serious. Well, my man, no worries, because I honestly don't give a crap about such thing.

I am actually blogging just because it's fun as I can write whatever I want and I don't have to worry about pleasing anyone. Even if the main man Najib himself said my blog is a load of crap, I would not be offended. In fact, I will be happy because the PM took time to read my blog even though he summed it up by saying its crap. One man's crap is another man's manna, isn't it?

It's however different if you are running a TV station, especially if the station is funded by the government. That one you must do properly because it is not your private property like a blog. Cannot simply simply one. Must make sure the ratings are good, improve viewership from time to time, put in quality programme, etc etc.

That bring us back to the thing that sparked the whole allegations against those PM's people.

From what I understand, those guys from PMO highlighted how private tv stations performed much much better than the government-owned RTM during some Cabinet meeting. It caused great embarrassment to our very intellectual Information Minister Rais Yatim. The man sacked his press secretary immediately after. Why he did that is beyond me.

Later on, some pro-BN bloggers (or is it just one guy?) started posting not very nice things about those PM's people accusing them of running down fellow pro-BN bloggers. Hmmmm....guess it's an attempt to instigate everyone to attack the PM people la....tsk tsk tsk

Well, why la have to be like that. What? Pro-BN bloggers are so easy to be manipulated ka? I personally don't think so.

Anyway, I'm more or less operating alone down here in JB. So, I'm immune to such tricks as I'm not beholden to anyone.

Well, some senior bloggers, do help promote my blog of which I am very appreciative (honestly, I don't know why such big time fellas like them want to promote my insignificant anonymous blog). Other than that, I'm as free as a a bird...hehehehe.

Ok, as for Rais and his band of people, really la....I think you all really not good at all, ok?  Let's not even look at the figures as compared to Media Prima and Astro. Just switch on RTM and you know the channels sucks.

Sorry, RTM people, it's a fact. Too bad that the people who supposed to lead you all do not know how to do their job.

The channels don't look any different from those days when I watched Bintang RTM as a kid. Ok, now got color lah, last time black and white....that's about it. And man....those RTM-made entertainment programme featuring some makchik-makchik and pakchik-pakchik singers are simply awful lah. And the props really look like some pelamin from the 1970s. Where got people use those lampu kelap-kelip anymore for props of a national tv programme.

The smart local government of Gorontalo

I am quite sure the "all women party" which I proposed in my last posting will not be too harsh with the men folks once they come to power. Well, at least the upheaval that follows will not be as bad as if Pakatan win the next general election la.

I am quite sure they would not be going around castrating wayward husbands and boyfriends. Just maybe put them on a tighter leash only ...maybe.

The most is that they may do things like in this story, just to prevent men from bullying women too much -

AFP
Friday, Mar 02, 2012
GORONTALO, Indonesia - Thousands of male Indonesian civil servants had their monthly pay transferred to their wives' bank accounts this week in a bid by a local government to stop men having affairs.
The Gorontalo administration on northern Sulawesi island issued the recommendation early this year to its 3,200 civil servants, saying it would help control funds usually spent on mistresses.
"Men are usually unable to control their behaviour if they have too much money in their pocket," government spokesman Rifly Katili told AFP.
"I'm pretty sure this will eliminate the possibility of love affairs that undermine families."
About 90 percent of the workers are voluntarily taking part in the initiative, Katili said.
"This kind of initiative will also empower the employees' wives to learn about household budget management," he said.
Katili said many wives had complained to the governor that their husbands withheld how much they earned, typically between one and four million rupiah ($110-$440) a month.
Katili did not know how many civil servants had cheated on their wives.
"Unfortunately, we never researched that."

Ok, maybe we can also modify the NEP so that women have a percentage ownership quota of the country's wealth. I wonder how much of this country's wealth now belong to women....must be a bit only considering the large number of terrible men in this country.

Men are bastards

I'm putting aside for now the DAP's Lynas radioactive Chinese scare crap. Quite a few postings on it already. If there are still those who can't get it what Guang Eng gang really want out of the thing, then it's none of my business anymore. Saving the environment my ass la Guan Eng.

Well, want to write about other things also leh.

Ok, last night I watched this very good movie.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Gripping like hell.

It stars the beautiful beautiful beautiful Rooney Mara.

Mara was nominated for Best Actress during the recent Acadamy Award for her portrayal of the character Lisbeth Salander in the movie but didn't win. Too bad since she was so damn good as that character. Watching the movie, I almost wished that I'm a lesbian....go and watch it (try to find the uncensored one) and you will know why I said that.

The movie is an adaptation of a novel. Here is the background from Wikipedia -

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (original title in Swedish: Män som hatar kvinnor – "Men Who Hate Women") is a crime novel by Swedish author and journalist Stieg Larsson. It is the first book in the trilogy known as the "Millennium series".
At his death in November 2004, Larsson left the three unpublished novels that make up the trilogy. They became posthumous best-sellers in several European countries as well as in the United States.

Actually, the movie leaves me with the impression that men are all bastards.

They will cheat and abuse at the expense of their women whenever they have the opportunity. Every single one of them....including the pious holy ustaz types.

But I don't blame men for being bastards, because I think they were born weak with such characteristics..

The fault actually lies with women if they let themselves be conned by men.

We know that men are natural-born bastards yet we let them do all that kind of nonsense to us, so who's to blame?

Ok ok, I know, life is more complicated than that....but seriously, for goodness sake women, stand up to your men lah. Don't let them push you around too much, ok?

Now, come to think of it, why don't all women in Malaysia set up their own party.

Parti Wanita Malaysia (ok, the name can be changed later to something more cool) which is exclusively for women.Half of the population are women what. What's wrong with that?

The other parties were in fact set up along similar categorized population  percentage :
Umno, Pas - about 55 per cent Malay Muslims

DAP, MCA, Gerakan  - about 28 per cent Chinese
MIC, PPP and such - about 10 per cent Indians
Then there are all those Sabah and Sarawak parties which were formed based on ethnic line.

I seriously think an all women party will do good for this country. At least we can break away from that racial thing. I don't think a gender-based party is all too bad.

Women tend to be less corrupt, more responsible and passionate about getting the best for this country.

Wanita Umno, for instance are the backbone of the party (too bad its current chief is Shahrizat lah....sometimes I think she looks like a man). They do the donkey but crucial works. Campaigning from door to door are mostly done by them. All those lousy menfolks, especially the Pemuda Umno are mostly only good at lepaking at the kedai mamak. Talk talk only la....jockeying for party posts la, getting contracts la, getting new wives la etc etc.....true isn't it? Ok Ok, I'm exaggerating....some of the Umno men are good people, but really la, given the chance, they too want to do that kind of nonsense too.

Eh, the Pakatan men also don't try to fool people, ok? You all are bastards too. Just look at the much suffering Wan Azizah. You really think that she don't know that's really her husband in the video ka? Come on la. Who are we trying to bluff? Just imagine the pain she has to endure for that.

Then there's Elisabeth Wong. Aiya, that boyfriend of her har....after had his pleasure, still want to take pictures some more. Really kinky bastard. Get her in trouble only. Poor girl.

Then there's all those PKR ustaz types like Badrul Amin....got two/three wives still got in trouble like that.

Oh, you all remember the sad story of this very beautiful Chinese Cambodian lady and her two children?

This one is the work of a super pious Kelantan Pas leader. Really shameful lah.

Eh, the non-Malay men are also not that much good either ok? There was of course Dr Chua Soi Lek (at least he own up). And DAP men also not that much good either. I know a very sordid story about one of their leaders, but was sworn to secrecy. You all want to think I'm bluffing go ahead la but DAP girls in Penang know la about this story.

Indian men also got such nonsense you know. Last time got DP Vijendren. Still got like that one, just that we don't have evidence la. Really, sure got one. Men will always be men no matter what are their race or religion.

In conclusion, women should consider taking charge of things. You let men run your life, you will probably end up suffering over and over again.

Now, who should we get as our first president of an all women party for this country?

Teaching Pakatan MPs how to shut down radioactive plants

The guys at The Mole today came up with this rather hard to understand article -

MP blames BN for Shah Alam rare earth magnet factory

Well, at least it is hard for me to understand because the two MPs they quoted seems to be quite incoherent.

If you all can understand them then good for you all lah. But sorry ya...I don't really get what they are trying to articulate.

Ok, first there was Pas' Khalid Samad the MP of Shah Alam where the Japanese rare earth magnet factory is located.

He was quoted as saying this when asked what should be done to the plant which could and probably has turned some people of Shah Alam into mutants due to its use of rare earth raw materials -

"We cannot do anything about it. What could we do? It has been operational for years and we cannot simply stop it. This is the failure of the previous BN led government.

"The government in the past had made the mistake by approving such a plant in Shah Alam. Now we in Pakatan Rakyat are more aware and would not allow such factories to operate. Look at how we are standing up against Lynas,"

Hmmm....first the handsome YB said cannot do anything and then blame the previous BN government. So, the plant dangerous la and it's all the fault of BN...but is that all to it?

What he really meant by cannot do anything? Pakatan-led Selangor government cannot just pulled the plug ka? The plant could be as dangerous as Lynas you know. Don't want to at least investigate the plant ka and see if there is any radiation? Check first la, probably the radiation at the plant is worse than the one in Lynas.

Pakatan people kan very concerned about the environment. Why not do demo in front of the plant. Pas people can lie down on the road in front of the plant and stop the lorries coming in and out of it. Ala, like that one you all did in Perak last time. Better still if you all can get your DAP friends to lie down on the road with you....hehehehe....see la can or not. After awhile sure close down la that place. Eh, that one also I need to teach ka?

Hmmm....wonder if these charming anti-Lynas ladies are willing to join the Pas people lying down on the road to save the Malaysian environment.....what do you all think?

After Khalid, the Mole people went and interviewed the heroine of Lynas Fuziah Salleh, the MP of Kuantan. I told you all this lady blur blur you all don't want to listen and still want to get her quote, see, she just made your article even more hard to understand.

Fuziah claimed the rare earth magnet producing factory in Selangor and the Lynas rare earth plant in Gebeng, Kuantan were two separate matters.

The PKR vice president said, "rare earth element in Shah Alam factory is not radioactive as it has already been processed."

"Lynas is the rare earth ore processing plant which processes the rare earth element such as crushing and extracting it, while leaving the waste that contains radioactive. Thus the factory in Shah Alam is safe as it only involves downstream activity".

Hmmm...I wonder how the hell she came to that conclusion. Simply simply said one ka? Makchik, you check your facts properly or not? Why not you at least ask for experts to be appointed by the Selangor government to check check first the place. You as a number one environmentalist should at least demand that what. Or is it you simply tembak your facts like what you did on the Lynas issue. Experts said also you don't want to believe.

Oh, in that article, Fuziah also confirmed my suspicion that she tend to say something simply to look popular even though it makes her sounds not very intelligent and contradictory. See this -

Fuziah also took time to explain that she was not totality against the setting up of the Lynas rare earth plant but was concerned about the safety of the people and the environment.

She also denied politicising the issue.

Quite blur isn't she? Told you, you don't want to believe....sheessshhh....

DAP's east coast foothold and the blur blur PKR lady

Past midnight and still can't sleep....so I think I write a bit more on Lynas which my past few postings had attracted the interest of some DAP cybertroopers. Kinda fun reading their comments.

Ok, the whole anti-Lynas demo is purely a DAP show. That I'm certain.

PKR seems to have been elbowed out of it. Not much coverage given to them by the pro-Pakatan media.

Not even their Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh who has been making all sorts of nonsensical noises over the issue got that much space in the Chinese newspapers that day.

Even Guan Eng, doing a little jig on the issue in Penang got more publicity than Fuziah and Anwar Ibrahim combined.

Well, can't really blame the Chinese papers, Fuziah and Anwar are not Chinese. Chinese papers are meant for Chinese audience and therefore need a Chinese star. Guan Eng is indeed a Chinese star and the majority of the anti-Lynas crowd are Chinese. These are facts, ok? Nothing wrong with that.

Anyway, I do suspect that many of you do not even realised that Gebeng which is where the Lynas plant is being built is not even in Fuziah's Kuantan parliamentary area.

It's in Indera Mahkota, the only other Pakatan's parliamentary area in Pahang which MP is Azan Ismail. This guy was Pahang PKR no 2 until he resigned from the post in 2010, citing dissatisfaction with the party's management.

Azan has been quiet for so long. I can't even remember when was the last time he was in the news. The last time I met him was just a few days after he won the election in 2008. He was discussing with several other PKR people about how to get some contract jobs in Selangor.

Apparently, Fuziah is now handling PKR's affairs in both areas.

Now, how did these two PKR clowns won in 2008?

Bear in mind ya that DAP do not have much base in eastern Pahang. Prior to 2008, DAP represented the opposition in the State with their single rep in Triang. Thats in western Pahang. Now they got another one in Tras, also in western Pahang. Pas meanwhile got two State seats in Beserah and Kuala Semantan in 2008.

In 2008, Fuziah beat Fu Ah Kiow of MCA in Kuantan by getting 52 per cent of the votes, while Azan beat Salamon Ali Rizal Abdul Rahman of Umno in Indera Mahkota by getting 51 per cent of the votes.

In another words, they won by a small margin. Do also bear in mind that Beserah was the only State constituency in the two parliamentary areas which fell to Pakatan.

Clearly, Fuziah and Azan won due to protest votes by BN supporters at that time. My reading was that it was mainly the protest votes of MCA members which did the trick for them. MCA was rocked to the core when it dropped several of their highly influential assemblymen such as then Teruntum assemblyman Ti Lian Ker.

Now, with the Lynas demo being considered as a DAP's success, it would not be far fetched to assume for the party to set its sight on either Kuantan or Indera Mahkota.

Azan is almost certain to lose his seat based on his lack of performance thus far. However, my bet is that, DAP will prefer to take away Fuziah's Kuantan seat and will try to persuade her to instead move over to contest in Indera Mahkota.

If I'm Guan Eng, I will persuade Anwar to agree based on these arguments -
1. DAP need Kuantan as its foothold in the East Coast
2. Kuantan got a large number of Chinese voters who are now more partial to DAP after the anti-Lynas campaign.
3. Fuziah does not stand much chance without the MCA protest votes if she face a Chinese opponent in Kuantan this time around. Indera Mahkota got more Malays who may be sympathetic to her.
4. Since Fuziah is so keen to be the heroine of anti-Lynas, she should be in Indera Mahkota where the plant is actually located.

Knowing that DAP is now the big brother in Pakatan due to its current influence among the majority of Chinese voters, Anwar will agree to the demand....probably in exchange for DAP's help via its Chinese supporters in other places. Knowing Fuziah's blind loyalty to Anwar, she will happily agree too.

So, there you have it. The blur blur Fuziah will not even notice what's going to hit her. She will not stand much chance in Indera Mahkota as the Malay voters there, like elsewhere are now more BN-friendly.

Yup, Fuziah is that blur. Her character is what the Javanese call "ndablaek", which means she has a single tracked mind where the brain is incapable of accepting any other idea except what she had made up her mind to believe. If you don't believe me, try having a conversation with her about something profound for half an hour and you will know what I'm talking about.

BTW, I'm sticking to my stand that Lynas is really a political and not an environmental issue. I am not going to waste my time and energy trying to present environmental arguments on how safe the Lynas plant is, as I'm not in the business of educating idiots like Fuziah. Anyway, those had already been done by the experts and see lah for yourself how it affects people like Fuziah and those like her.

Totally like pouring water on yam leaves (mencurah air didaun keladi....something like that lah).

A cool lady

I think I am now a fan of Erykah Badu.

Her reaction to the ban of her concert by the Malaysian authorities indicates that she is one cool lady.

Too bad that The Star screwed up her concert.

Here is the story by Associated Press -

Erykah Badu Sad But Not Angry Over Malaysian Ban

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia February 29, 2012, 06:03 am ET

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Soul singer Erykah Badu said Wednesday she holds no grudge against Malaysia's government for barring her from performing after a photograph of her body art offended some Muslims.
More than 1,500 people had bought tickets to watch the Grammy-winning American singer at a Kuala Lumpur auditorium Wednesday, but Malaysia's information minister announced on the eve of the concert that it could not proceed because a promotional photo of Badu with the Arabic word for Allah painted on her bare shoulders was "an insult to Islam."
"It's sad, because we traveled a long way," Badu told a news conference. "But I'm totally understanding of (the minister's) protection of the laws and its people. He doesn't want anything to happen. I'm good with that."
The photograph ignited criticism from some politicians and religious groups in Muslim-majority Malaysia after a newspaper published it Monday in a feature to promote Badu's show. The daily has since apologized for what it called an "oversight" that led to the photo's publication.
Badu, 41, said the photo was inspired by images from "The Holy Mountain," a 1973 surrealist movie by Chilean-French filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky.
"I think art is often misunderstood in the realm of religion, and it's OK," she said. "In America, it's a lot different. Art is also misunderstood but it is not such a harsh gesture to promote the names of God. I am learning and understanding about Islam in other countries more as we travel."
Information Minister Rais Yatim said Malaysia's Cabinet endorsed the ban Wednesday. Police feared that if the concert went ahead, it could cause "various situations that may lead to social excitement, and quarrels may break out due to religious sensitivities," the national news agency, Bernama, quoted the minister as saying.
Public reaction to the concert ban has been divided. On Twitter, many Malaysians, including Muslims, accused the government of intolerance, but others praised authorities for being firm about defending religious principles.
Badu said she would "absolutely" welcome another chance to perform in Malaysia someday. She is scheduled to sing at a jazz festival this weekend in Jakarta, the capital of neighboring Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation.

Now they want a real street protest for Lynas

Embolden by the success of the anti-Lynas demonstration in Kuantan last weekend, the pro-Pakatan organisers are planning another one.

They are so bold as to threaten the Government.

This is the story which I cut and paste from The Star on-line :

KUANTAN: Another anti-Lynas rally will be held if the Government does not shut down the rare earth refinery project in Gebeng, said the Himpunan Hijau committee which organised the first protest on Sunday.
Its chairman Wong Tack said he was disappointed with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s statement that the Government had to look for a solution that would be acceptable to the people without affecting investments.
“We cannot accept his statement. Therefore, the Himpunan Hijau 3.0 rally is on – unless the project is cancelled,” Wong said at a press conference yesterday.
The organisers had called on the Government to respond within 24 hours after the Himpunan Hijau 2.0 rally ended two days ago.
Najib had said Lynas was looking for an uninhabited location to store the waste material from the plant, although it was scientifically safe.
Wong said the committee would discuss with Bersih chairman Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan on the possibility of holding a joint rally soon.

The Star, which I now believe to be supportive of the anti-Lynas campaign, however omitted a sentence from the same story which appeared on the newspaper's page 21 Tuesday edition..

Here is the missing sentence that you can't find on The Star online -

"We'll take it to the streets," Wong said at the press conference yesterday.

Star people, you all trying to tone down the story ka?

Hmmmm.....the 24-hours  warning deadline had elapsed....so, how??? Guess making noise on a padang was not good enough, eh?

Another chance to look cute, girls? Sure or not, you still want to come this time. It's going to be the real street protest leh. Sure got tear gas and water canon one. I think this time better leave it to the brave Pas' Unit Amal tough guys and the Pakatan Malays la.

DAP's victory in Kuantan last weekend

The most worrying thing about the Lynas rare earth issue to me is not the radiation risk as claimed by the pro-Pakatan demo people.

The scariest thing to me is that the whole issue seems to have developed a racial flavour on its own.

Yes, there are some Malays and other non-Chinese taking part in the demo in Kuantan on Sunday, but they were heavily outnumbered by their Chinese counterparts.

And yesterday, as I went to buy a newspaper at a shop, I noticed that all the Chinese newspapers put the Lynas story on their front page. Each splashed huge pictures of the thousands of protesters. The camera angles were such that the crowd looked really big in those pictures,  The Chinese-owned The Star followed suit. The other English and Malay newspapers however seems to shy away from doing so,

The Lynas demo in Kuantan on Sunday was really a DAP show. eventhough Anwar Ibrahim as usual tried to hijack it. Guan Eng's people came down from all the way as far as Penang to make sure it was a success.

Indeed it was a success....not in highlighting an environmental issue, but rather in proving the DAP's capability in galvanising the Chinese community's support for the party.

Personally, I'm of the opinion that the Lynas issue was at best just an excuse for the demo which in actual fact is the first demo dominated by Chinese participants. DAP had managed to convince the Chinese that they had cornered the BN government not to be harsh on them.

The Lynas demo was arguably the biggest open air public demonstration dominated by Chinese protesters since 1969.

Auntie, the only mutant in Kuantan last weekend was that funny PKR ostaz  who get caught la....and he became a mutant simply simply one. Lynas plant not built yet liao.

Can we swap status and I become a real Chinese?

Someone called me this morning and complained about the bumiputera status of the Malaysian Siamese community.

It arises from a news that PM DS Najib Razak had a get-together function with the Siamese community yesterday and announced that they are bumiputera.

What Najib said was really nothing new, as the status was given to the community since Merdeka  but maybe some people may have heard it for the first time.

There are less than 100,000 Malaysian Siamese in this country. They are mostly farmers living in their villages in Perlis, Kedah and Kelantan.

This person who complained about their bumiputera status asked me how come they got it while other decendants of migrants such as the Chinese and Indians were not given the status.

Well, I tried to explain that the Siamese community have been living in the northern States for generations, and that they are not rally migrants from Thailand. But this was immediately shot down.

"I'm a fifth generation of my family living in this country. How come I cannot become a bumiputera? You yourself on the other hand is just a third generation immigrant, how come you are a bumiputera?" the person asked.

Shit man, tak pasal-pasal I sudah kena leh....At that point I really feel like singing this song - Pendatang Song.

Hmmm...but I let it passed. I know when the talk reached this stage, I better give way. No point in arguing.

So I just said I will check with the NRD if I can transfer my bumiputera status to the person. Honestly, I really don't need my bumiputera status anymore because I'm planning to migrate to Taiwan end of this year. It would be nice if I can have the person's Chinese status in return. All these while also I never asked to be a bumiputera or remember getting some discounted priced stuff for that status.

Of course I was scolded again for trying to be too smart with my answer. But at least it was just for being a stupid irritating dumb ass and not because I am some sorts of  a bumiputera supermacist. Actually, if it was someone else on the other end of the line, I may fight till the bitter end on this...but not with this person. This person is actually a good person except for the bad habit of reading too much DAP propaganda stuff in the internet,,,,I think.

Anyway, I am glad  the person still called me despite knowing I'm a supporter of the evil BN  :)

Ok, a bit about the Malaysian Siamese community, I took from Wikipedia -

Politically, Malaysian Siamese are recognised as Bumiputeras and are given similar status to the Malays, Kadazan-Dusuns, Ibans and Malaccan Portuguese.
Most Malaysian Siamese people are Buddhists of the Theravada sect. Their place of worship is called the Wat. Each Wat has several monks administering it.

Most Malaysian Siamese people lead a way of life similar to the Malays. This is evident especially among the Kelantanse Siams. One could not differentiate a Malay or a Siamese if they are not heard speaking their own language. The only distinctive mark among them is their religion and language. Otherwise Malaysian Siamese are like Malays as they also speak fluent local Malay dialects.
