Purple Hot

There have been a lot of talk about Johor and Gelang Patah lately that for some strange reasons, Kulai and Kluang have fallen under the radar of political observers.

I was told by my Dad's old friend, Uncle Li, whom I talked to yesterday, Kulai is far more likely to fall to the Opposition than Gelang Patah, while Kluang may fall not so much because of the "Chinese revolution (Revolt)" but because of Malay dissatisfaction.

This morning I had breakfast at the mamak corner near where I live with this guy from Kulai.  I took the opportunity to get a bit of update on what is happening in Kulai, just to confirm what I was told about Kulai by Uncle Li.

He said BN Kulai suffers from factionalism and poor leadership, among other things, which have also resulted in fairly disturbing news on the ground.   I am sure the BN leadership know what is happening there, and hopefully have a solution to Kulai.  Both the PM and MB have been spending quite a lot of time in Kulai too, so I am sure things are under control for BN.

BN might gain some respite too, as DAP is currently having problems in Johor.  Talk is, even though they are not feuding publicly (a gag order is already in place, decreed by Lim Kit Siang himself), the DAP Johor guys are very sore at how they have been totally disregarded in the fight for Johor.

For years DAP Johor have been working hard, building support for the party, in relative obscurity out here, and now they are expected to simply make way for choices made by people who were not actively on the ground.  I am not sure how they can possibly fight against the culling process, but I think DAP Johor leaders are beginning to realise exactly what is the role of provincial leaders in the DAP political culture.

Other purple hot seats on my list, besides the obvious 5 are Pasir Gudang and Tebrau.  These are where I think the fight is going to be toughest for BN and I hope to get in touch with my friends on the ground for their feel of what's happening down there.

    1. It's odd really, but there are quite a number of Johor Malays who not only support DAP, but also loyal party members. And not to forget all those PAS members who would not budge regardless of what. These are the ones whom a pakcik once told me as "hitam tegar tak guna buang masa". They represent a small portion of 5% to 10% of Johor Malays that will not change their stand, no matter how hard you tried.

    2. Yes Tinsel.
There will always be that 5~10% 'hitam tegar', buta hati, busuk perut and hasad dengki Malays, who will not support UMNO. They have been fed with news of alleged corruption and lies, Rosmah's Mansur's 24M ring, overseas shopping spree, UMNO politician having big cars and houses, having second or third young wives, actress summore. That's why Nik Aziz has been portraying a humble live.

There were also talk that people in Tenggaroh are sore with their representative. My nephew who is going to marry a girl from Tenggaroh, told me that her kampong folks are going to do some sort of revolt if the MIC candidate is field again this time around. I have told her to speak to her kampong folks, the need to support whoever BN choose to nominate. I told her that UMNO itself does not practice true democracy. That the PM & DPM's post must be elected amongst BN component parties, not UMNO alone and that's a logical reason why we must field a safe seat to it's coalition members, enabling their representative be elected into Parliament.

I just hope you can convey this message too, to people who you might know, that can do something about this dissatisfaction in Tenggaroh.

  2. Hi, what about Dun MAchap. Dato Hamid had been in his YB seat for 5 terms which 2 as member of parliament. He finally shows his face this year during PIBG meeting in his DUN. His lame excuse was he was very busy as the internal auditor or commitee members of treasury. It is his 'friends'who tell the kampong people upon hundreds and hundreds hectres of land he had in mersing and how close he is to YB Ghani. Present scenario: PAS candidate for PRU 13 is the young blood from Pontian. If UMNO is smart, there are many young candidates other than the 'good old nothing for the people in Dun Machap'Hamid. Enough is enough. Eventhough DR M asked 4 party loyalty, having him around for more than 20 years is just about it. I hope the state UMNO and BN will dig through my claims.

    1. I share your sentiments, although it would be nice if you can share some names that you would like to see as the new leadership for Simpang Renggam.

The last time I was there, I didn't get to see many young people, all of them were mostly pakciks. Only when MB was there visiting the Peti Undi that I saw some of the younger folks who were probably there because MB was there.

So it is rather difficult for me to see any of these younger people as having the sincerity to lead.

    2. Ironically i don't have any. You are right because all these years i saw the same old chaps who was younger then, mingle around YB. I did speak to 2 of grass root member and leader in Belia 4B Kg Ithnin Maarof and it seems to me they worth to be given a chance. Basically they are clean, uncorrupted, not rich and always around the area. Unlike the opposition which has maybe a pool of young assabiah candidate, we need to search the raw diamond that had been neglected. If the YB sincere to the party, he should have name youth candidates for proposal. If you could ask the TEKUN staff in simpang rengam, i believe they (the frontliners) know the best young leader there is. They are the 1 who look into the villagers and serve them. Happy hunting!

  3. Tinsel,

Itu Halim DUN Puteri Wangsa pun another useless fellow. Never have the intention to serve his constituency. Cakap n bersyarah full of rethoric but kerja turun padang byk malas. Tp when bagi BR1M suddenly appear siap bwk reporter tunjuk just to take credit. Frm what i heard, akar umbi totally against his nomination tp dia punya report byk bagus. He knows very well his current position and now eyeing safer DUN Tiram

    2. Ya lor. Now Maulizan also goyang coz Halim knows how to pull cable esp with bumbung hijau. Those people dont know Maulizan work his ass off for the Bahagian tp lain org take credit. This type of people really spoil UMNO la. Dont believe? Go n ask org Kg Plentong Tengah. Who actually go listen n settle their problem. Bhg Tebrau or PGudang? Susah la semua mau pangkat only huk huk..
