I never meant this posting to be political. Just a tribute to one of the country's best sportsmen.
But this monkey of a politician by the name of Manoharan got my blood boiling with his crap tweeting about Chong Wei.

It was heart-breaking. Chong Wei tried his best but the gold medal was just not fated to be his and Malaysians.
It was a closely fought match with Lin Dan winning at 15-21, 21-10, 21-19.
There were however moments when I was so convinced that Chong Wei could win. The support he got was great. I even saw someone in the stands waving a Brunei flag for him. He was for long spells playing superbly. It was not like that final match between the two in Beijing four years ago. Chong Wei went down fighting till the end this time.
Alas, it was not to be....
Personally, Chong Wei is still a Malaysian hero to me despite the loss.
It was probably his last big match before retiring. Still Chong Wei will always be remembered as the shining beacon of Malaysian badminton of his generation.
He gave us something to cheer about all these yezrs as our other shuttlers fell short by the wayside.
Thank you Chong Wei, and all the best.
To me, he is still the best Malaysian badminton player of all time! He was world no. 1 for so long. His only problem was Lin Dan, who is his bogeyman, just like Nadal is Federer's....

Chong Wei I watched you live on TV in London, Ontario, Canada, and you rfeally did your best and you are still my Malaysian hero anytime, syabas mate!
ReplyDeleteAlamak, the mata sepet did his best but still came second. No harm in winning silver, but must be demoralising all the same. Not quite as demoralising as those goons who call on mata sepets to leave this country and go somewhere else.

ReplyDeleteUnfortunately Lin Dan is just too good.. He is after all the "Superstar of Badminton".. Record 21 wins against LCW in 30 matches speak for itself.
Don't be so sad LCW... Olympic silver is great too! You did Malaysia proud!

i thought that it would be like in the old chinese kungfu movies. the hero having suffered earlier devastating defeats overcomes huge obstacles (injury, family problems) and odds to finally triumph over the arch nemesis in an epic final battle. alas, real life is not like a chinese kungfu movie..
ReplyDeleteLee Chong Wei's pain is every Malaysian's pain. He fought gallantly and it was just heart wrenching to see him lose to Lim Dan. How close this terrier of a champion came close. At the local mamak shop, we all were rooting for Lee Chong Wei as one nation. Suddenly no one taught himself as a Malay, Chinese, Indian, Muslim or Non Muslim. We all just wanted Lee Chong Wei to win.

Why all recognise now he is MALAYSIAN and not PENDATANG and Cinapek or Ah Beng? Now everyone wants him to be the true malaysian just like legendary Hang Tuah of the modern times? Just compare to those comes from Philippines or Indon to dig and send home money and even claimi9ng the specail status.

She was just saying her appreciation for LCW and anger that a complete moron of a politician tried to exploit LCW's defeat to further his politicsl interests.
