Upon-the-Sea

These are just pictures of a beautiful city...mostly in summer....now it's quite cold there....

The last picture is that of 11-year-old Maj Junxin. Cute isn't she? The website where I took that picture from described her as a migrant (pendatang) of the city. Her family had migrated to the city from the Chinese rural area due to economic reasons.

Well, describing the cute girl as a pendatang like that would be politically incorrect back in Malaysia.

Never mind....that is all for today. I just want to rest now. Have a good day everyone.

  1. Ah, Shanghai, the city of 25 million people, almost as many as the population of Bolehland. Plenty of pendatangs, but they are proud pendatangs who don't get discriminated. There is no quota for pendatangs and native shanghainese. There are no calls for pendatangs to go back to the other provinces.

That's the difference between a progressive society and a sick society. One that won't see much light of day.

Are you sure? Have you been there? Have you ask those who ride bicycle & selling all kind of rantai, goodies and kuih under the bridges etc? Have you ask them which province they came from? Have you ask them how shanghai people call them? I've been there and i can tell you that you are getting much better as pendatang in malaysia.

    2. What you see in the pix is Pudong. In the 80s when I first went there, it was nothing but empty farm land. Then they built highways....then housing blocks...then skyscrapers. Now they have a sophisticated subway system. What does Bolehland have ? Habuk pun takde....because the people here keep walking around on crutches supplied by the gomen.

  10. A moron will call another person moron. Is the same in malai? We have Ipoh mari people or sabah and all over malaysian migrants cari makan in Kuala Lumpur. All over the world and what a shame in malaya there are snatch thieves except in Sinkapore.
Malaya lucky. A small place like Shanghai just has a population of Malaya in a small place. That is why Dumno and Mcca can only count up to thousands but not millions or billions.

  13. bc,

china operate on a hukou system to restrict movement of their citizen due to the very large population, which many are from the rural that are mainly farmer and farm worker, and wish to find a better living in the cities, it is sort of discrimination policy but owing to the fact that urban area cannot cope with the large inflow that might create social problem, it seem justifiable at this point of time. china use the term migrant worker (农民工) to address those rural people that live in the cities, entirely difference with the context of pendatang when you use it to label on malaysian like me. i think you are with the intention to insult.

  15. For those chinese who think they are discriminated in Malaysia, I welcome you to go back to china. I bet many of them will not go back even if you have to chop off their finger. Why? Because they know they are enjoying good life and status here in this country. But in their mouth they keep on saying that they are being discriminated. This is the ugly side of human. They will never satisfied no matter how much the have or how high the got into.

  16. Every one of your threads has a snide attack on either DAP, Pakatan, christians or the Chinese. Just like this thread that talks about pendatangs in Shanghai who are apparently discriminated against but who keep going for economic gain. It's your wish that the pendatangs in Malaysia could be similarly accomodating. You invite anti Chinese comments telling the pendatangs to go back to China if they feel discriminated against.

Stop pretending you have a "highly Chinese educated" boyfriend. No self respecting Chinese man could fall for an amateur snake like BC. And the Chinese writing above ? That's not the writing of someone with std 6 Chinese education.

    1. Actually, I think my blog attracts DAP and Pakatan cybertroopers more than anyone else. Just check out all the comments I received ya. And their anti-BN, anti-Malays and anti-Islam comments were not very subtle either. In all fairness, I approved almost all of them except if they were overly vulgar, outright seditious or fishing with the intention of getting an innocent party into trouble.

And this posting is as I said at its beginning - pictures of Shanghai. The little girl is indeed a child of a migrant worker in that city and the "migrant" (pendatang) word is politically incorrect in Malaysia. You all were the ones jumping here and there accusing me of these and that.

By the way, I think my "fantasy Chinese boyfriend" will be amused by your comment about him being merely with std 6 Chinese education. He voted DAP in 2008, now he can see for himself how arrogant a DAP cybertrooper can be.

      Delete
    2. Oi, std 6 Chinese education can write better than the writing above lah. What u have above is nothing more than Google translate

    3. This is an anti Christian, anti DAP, anti Pakatan, anti Chinese blog, and u expect subtlety ? Telling Chinese to go back to China is not arrogant? Claiming christians want to change the country to a Christian republic without evidence is not arrogant ?

You want to know why we read your blog ? We want to remind ourselves of arrogant assholes like anon 08:38, 02:16, 00:26, 07:11. We want to draw out their actual colours. Of course they don't disappoint. And you too, with a fantasy chinaman boyfriend to mask your anti Chinese slant.

      Delete
    4. Have it ever crossed your mind that I could just delete your comments and only allow anti Christian, anti DAP, anti Pakatan, anti Chinese comments? Pause a bit and think, ok? Nanti saya kata awak bodoh, awak marah.

As for my boyfriend's comment, anyone who has studied in a Chinese school would know that the way the Chinese sentence was constructed was not that of a google translate.

Well, never mind....I know I'm just wasting my time here.
