If I'm Chinese, I would probably have this name 清晨的露水.
I would not like to have any other name other than that.
That name would be given by my parents and probably has been handed down from generation to generation from the old days when my ancestors were still in China.
I would probably look like this -
In the most unlikely event of me falling in love with a Malay muslim man and marry him, I will retain my name. I would not use any of those Arabic names the Malays are so fond of giving their children and Muslim converts. Well, of course I would stop eating pork and other funny stuff, ok?
Similarly, if I marry a Christian Chinese, I would not change my name to one of those cheesy white people names.
Being a Chinese, I must work hard and save my money. I would nonetheless spend some to make my parents happy. Send them for overseas holidays twice a year, maybe. If they were happy, then, I would be happy too. After all, my parents on their part had worked hard to raise my siblings and me. It's being Chinese to honor our parents.
I don't think I would be much interested in politics if I'm a Chinese girl. On one side there are those insipid BN Chinese component parties which were floundering about not really knowing how to save themselves while on the other corner is the conniving DAP led by a bunch of Anglophile Christians whose dream is to lead all Chinese to the salvation of a white men's god.
Why the hell would I want to get involved with those sorts of nonsensical people. Wasting time only. May as well that I spend more time and energy working for my self betterment rather than wasting them on such nonsense. After all, Malaysia is a country where if one works hard enough, he/she will be successful no matter what.
Anyway, once I have enough money, I think I will migrate....to Taiwan, of course. Just for fun, ok? I will still love my country, Malaysia, though. It's after all my motherland. Yup, my motherland would be Malaysia and not China....but still, I would be Chinese, no doubt about it.
Got to hand it to you Big Cat. Cantik!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Malaysian government should really encourage self deportation for migrant workers. The chinese tin mining coolies were only looking to earn money before going back.
DeleteInstead of creating a wasteful Talent Corp, the Govenment should give incentives to leave. A high racial minorities is a receipe for disaster sooner or later.
Many Chinese keep close contact with their cousins back home. Frequently bringing the antiquated factories to Malaysia. That is how they gain comparative advantage plus the cheap labour brought in they are ready to go!
So keep on writing Big Cat. May it awaken the sense of roots in Chinese and they will go back to Taiwan as you suggested.
We wish you all the best..sayonara..
Good work girl...
No need for self-deportation. It's already taking place. Poor Najib is trying very hard to reverse the flow, but with clowns like 11.21 above, that's not likely to happen.
DeleteIf you were a chinese girl, you would be like Vivian Lee.....

the ironic thing is Chinese in China never thought Chinese in Malaysia is part of them... they said your are malaysian, not chinese...why you want to be chinese and learn in chinese school?
ReplyDeleteBig Cat:
ReplyDeleteStop writing trash. Name me a "top" DAP leader who is Christian and championing a Christian state. Otherwise stop spewing hatred between muslims and Christians. Don't be like that anti-Christ Helen Ang.
Godfather
Totally right..
Deletedont use religion to frighten the Muslims.
We only want good governance and honest leaders.
I think the muslims and malays of today are smart enough to know what kind of thrash is being spilled by you all.
As for Helen Ang,and the way she spins her Christian conspiracy..look up the sky.
There is a god somewhere up there of any beliefs who is looking.
God bless you.
Ai lge lks ks and ms are the honest leaders.
DeleteNo good comes to those who disparage religions, whatever religions. Helen Ang is different. She was jilted by a guy who forsook her for the Christian God, so she has an axe to grind. She will use a machinegun on christians and churches. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
ReplyDeletehaha... usual suspects= dont like her writing bcos she speaks the truth.need to drag in her personal life to confirm your hatred
DeleteFor the past year, I have been making comments regarding the allegations that Christians in DAP have been asking for (1) Christianity to be on par with Islam (2) Malaysia to have Christian holidays other than Christmas Day (3) Malaysia to be made a republic (4) non-Muslims to be allowed as heads of the Armed Forces (5) etc etc. These allegations have surfaced from people like Hasan Ali, Zulkifli Nordin, Helen Ang and some others. The allegations are serious, and even treacherous.
ReplyDeleteSo I wrote to people like Helen Ang and Syed Ali Akbar. I asked them to show me evidence, not hearsay, regarding these so-called Christian demands. I said that if there is clear evidence, then my family and I will stop supporting Pakatan. We will not vote Pakatan. I will also lead a picket in front of whichever offending church or offending Christian's house, demanding that they be charged with treason. However, if people like Zul Nordin or Helen Ang cannot provide any evidence that can withstand scrutiny, then they should apologise, and stop pitting one religion against another.
Is this a fair position to take, Big Cat ? Both Helen Ang and Syed Akbar Ali refused to post my position on their blogs. They are fearful of dealing with reasonable men and reasonable positions, for which they have no real answer.

The finest trick of the devil is to persuade you that he does not exist - Charles Baudelaire
DeleteSo we throw out the constitution and say that all lies are the truth and no truth exists ? That the finest trick of BN is to persuade the rakyat that no scandals exist ?
DeleteUse your brain and reason. Don't use such terms as "the devil exists". Truth is to be seen and heard. "feelings" don't come into it. If there is any evidence, charge the perpetrators with treason. If there is none, don't go around parroting what crazy people do.
DeleteLike what? Getah boxer?
ReplyDelete"I will still love my country, Malaysia, though. It's after all my motherland. Yup, my motherland would be Malaysia and not China....but still, I would be Chinese, no doubt about it."
ReplyDeleteWould that make you a pendatang ? Would you wince at the words "mata sepet" ? Would you be welcomed at your own motherland or told to leave whenever there is a complaint of injustice or theft ?
The real issue at hand is someone wishes to be inclusive but to retain their exclusiveness at the same time. Try to wallop anything nice and palatable to one's own taste, discard everything else!

ReplyDeleteIt's an interesting posting, what you would do and be like if you're born as a Chinese Malaysian, and can't be challenged, because it's just how you would be. I guess that some of these insights may have come from talking with your boyfriend's family and other Chinese friends you have. It's a fair and reasonable choice to imagine a life like that.
ReplyDeleteBut you have previously posted about DAP-supporter friends that you have and there are also others who will and have choosen a different life. These ones remain loyal to Malaysia, see themselves as malaysian first albeit that they are proud of their culture they know that they are different from other chinese (mainland, Singaporean, HK, etc). These people recognise that an election is an opportunity to choose between the options provided by the parties and candidates and to judge them on their past performance as your representative. On a day to day basis, these people will put family, friends and work first, but for an hour once every five years they will exercise their right to choose their government. I hope they do in GE13, regardless of who they choose.
I voted many times in my life. Many candidates have been good, some ended up being useless. However, when I have voted, I haven't changed my religion to that of the candidate. Nor has it resulted in a flood of people at my door waiting to convert me or my family. Is this normal? It seems to be a fear for some people. Please advise if I should take precautions (voting with rubber gloves on?)
ReplyDeleteIn the UK, who drafted our constitution, they must have a white man's god, but which one is it? They seem to be able to be free to practice whichever religion they choose?
ReplyDeleteAfter living in the middle east I have also heard the expression Brothers of the Book which covers the three faiths that believe in the same God - Islam, Christianity and Judaism. If they all believe in the same one God, which one is the white man's God, this God or another?
If She is a Malay, she will dress the lovely kerbaya and not veiled herself following the Arabs. I wonder why during the time of P. Ramlee and Saloma, Malays maintain their dressing culture and suddendly DUmno wants everyone to be more islamic and not secular
