Najib can't lose at Dong Zhong's CNY do (Updated)

ORIGINAL POSTING

Tomorrow may likely be the defining moment for PM DS Najib Razak's effort to convince the Chinese community that they are better off with BN than Pakatan.

The Chinese New Year celebrations at Dong Zhong's headquarters in Kajang to be attended by Najib will be the ultimate litmus test.

Najib had taken the challenge by agreeing to attend the function after invited by Dong Zhong. Now, whether the Chinese educationist group was sincere or otherwise with their invitation is immaterial. Their reception for Najib at the event tomorrow is all that matter. It will be judged by Malaysians.

If Najib is well received, then everyone, in particular the Chinese community will see it as a sign that the Prime Minister's efforts have been accepted and appreciated even by the Chinese educationists, who are known all these while as not being too sympathetic with the establishment.

If Najib is booed and hackled at the event, then everyone would have the right to judge Dong Zhong, known for its sympathetic overtures to Pakatan, especially the Chinese-based DAP as having no manners for insulting someone whom they invited as their honored guest. I don't think even the most hostile anti-government individuals among the Chinese school graduates would want that to happen. It will be a great shame for their schools if the association which supposed to represent their honorable teachers behave in such a manner.

Either way Najib wins.

Now, I wouldn't be too quick to thank Dong Zong for giving Najib this opportunity. After all I am still sore with them for several times almost costing the Chinese schools dearly by their demands which I had previously deemed as racists. Those included a demand backed by DAP for the removal of non-Mandarin speaking teachers (read non-Chinese) from Chinese schools.

Bear in mind that this invitation by Dong Zhong came with the urging by 85 Chinese associations from Johor. This has been confirmed by Dong Zhong. I'm more inclined to thank these Johor Chinese associations before I would want to thank Dong Zhong for giving Najib the chance to show to everyone that not all Chinese are against his government.

Unknown to many from outside Johor, most Chinese associations and NGOs in the State are supportive of BN. MB Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman and other Johor BN leaders have been nurturing good ties with these associations. And they had returned the goodwill gestures over the years. For instance, during the Tenang by-election two years ago, these Chinese associations came to BN's assistance by helping in the campaigning and enabling BN to win convincingly by doubling its majority in the constituency consisting over 40 per cent Chinese.

Now, after tomorrow, DAP in particular will know that not all Chinese in this country are against what BN has done for Malaysia over the half a century since Merdeka. There are still among the community who appreciate the fact that despite what has been described by DAP as a supremely evil Malay-led BN rule, the Chinese, as a community are still the most well off ones in the country.

    1. It is CNY and party with PSY. Why interject with politics by Jibby asking - ready for BN? Try to politicise the CNY?? use Dumno blame game when crowd reply No to BN.

If chinese during CNY and same with hari raya, invite people from other races, so why Big cat try to politicise this event. Can dong zhong invite jibby as PM of malaysia not a taikoh of UMNo or BN.

    2. Imagine the uproar if Perkasa was to invite Najib to their function.... Then the PM accept the invitation, some much.

Did we hear Ibrahim Ali or the Malays, for that matters, hint any objection to Najib's attending Dong Zong CNY event? Ibrahin Ali must-be a very moderate Malays, after-all. If not because of Dong Zong & Hindraf, Perkasa would not have existed.

  3. Yes agree that Chinese community is independent and generous to guests.

One of the biggest mistake made by UMNO/BN is to think that just because they control Chinese cultural clan associations, chambers of commerce and tycoons, BN can control Chinese votes.

There's a huge disconnect between new generation of Chinese that don't join those traditional social channels. Practically all the leadership of those societies are old men! Women and the young nowadays consider those societies irrelevent.

So please have more associations and tycoons promote BN/UMNO, i like it. It makes me laugh everytime...

    1. It's not our culture to laugh at our elders....only DAP anglophiles do that. Just because they are white inside, they think they are better than the rest of the Chinese.

  4. "most Chinese associations and NGOs in the State (Johor) are supportive of BN"

When I joined travel group - most of the participants are Chinese and most of them are anti-Govt. Typical upper-middle class. They even condemned Tun M after he has delivered 22 years of peace, harmony and prosperity for them. Were brainwashed by Malaysiakini, Malaysia Today and all that rubbish websites I suppose that they can't even appreciate a statesman..

My recent trip however for the first time I met a Chinese family that is pro-BN and they are from Johor ;) During the trip this Johor guy was almost involved in a fight with a Penang guy.. The "official" story was the Johor fellow was upset coz the Penang team was always not on time.

But I think it could be because of opposing political view. The Penang guy's wife is Chinese school teacher.. so we know where they stand. From Penang somemore ;p

    1. Racist reply. Why no thank you from you When chinese vote UMNo baru when umno was declared illegal and chinese vote umno - kutty for 20 years? When one decided to give up support, you blame them. You think like the Assard/Mubarak regime. You do not know what is democracy. Some ex UMNO ministers also shift their loyaty - dumno.

    2. Some people are never contented and never appreciated what God has given them and typically always see the bad, highlight it and make it seem that they are being trampled and not given the chance to breathe.....their mouths never stop spewing lies, untruths and complain 24/7

When one day they are tested, they will eventually see but possibly by that time it might be just a tad too late....then they will know what being blessed in this wonderful land means

Sad but these are Malaysians, and my fellow citizen brethren

This Dumno does not know what Malaysian Highest law says. Go and read and dream about what the Consitution says. This Dumno uses Indo, Sink and LOS Constitution to be applied in Malaysia. So no more Dayak, Iban, Kedazahan languages even they are bumis in Malaysia

  9. "Can't lose" is overconfident. I've been to plenty of CNY and other events and can still end up on the wrong side of a comment or action. Not every place is as welcoming as your Chinaman's house and Najib will need to be on his guard for this event too. That said, he has proven himself to be skilled in managing these events, but he needs his team to be just as skilled and not to create a situation that embarasses him. Maybe the visit is a "gift" but its also a cactus and care is needed to avoid a pain in the backside from this "gift".
