Lee Kuan Yew is okay

True to his no nonsense self, Singapore former premier Lee Kuan Yew made it known to Singaporeans and the world that he is fine without having to respond to rumours about himself. He instead did so by showing up at the republic's national day parade today. He looked frail but was in jovial mood.

Rumours of Lee's death was rife in the republic since two days ago.

 When I heard about it, I had checked with my contacts in Singapore and they had confirmed that Lee was  still alive.

He was however said to be under treatment for various ailments. The 89 year old founding father of modern Singapore was said to be in poor health ever since his wife passed away two years ago.

I had posted about his ailment to refute rumours that he had died.

 My sources may had not been very accurate about the degree of his illness and if my posting on it caused any distress, I humbly apologise. Sincerely, I'm glad that Lee is okay. He may not be my favourite person, but I do not wish him any harm or illness.

Now that Lee had proven that he is fine and may still be around for many more years, I wish him and his family the best of health and happiness.

To all Singaporeans, happy national day.

Lee Kuan Yew is seriously ill

Just heard that former Singapore premier Lee Kuan Yew is seriously ill.

The 89-year old was said to be suffering from serious urinary problems and other complications.

It was said that Lee had been suffering several bouts of serious illness over the past months but his current health problem seems to be the worst.

It was however not yet known whether the Istana or Lee's family will make any public announcement soon on the condition of the former long serving leader.

Sources in Singapore said Lee's health had actually started to deteriorate after the death of his wife Madam Kwa Geok Chew two years ago at the age of 89.

The couple must be true soulmates.

Despite the news blackout on Lee's current condition, it was learnt that preparations are being made in the event the long time patriach of Singapore could not recover from his ailment.

Personally, I hope Lee will recover. The Malaysia-Singapore love-hate relations would never be the same again without him around.

A prayer for Azizulhasni and Yeoh (UPDATED)

Bernama reports that Azizulhasni finished sixth and Yeoh 10th in the finals of their respective events.

Well, good try guys. We Malaysians need to keep on trying then, and do our best.

Since I'm now in the Olympics mood, I would like to dedicate this posting to Azizulhasni Awang and Yeoh Ken Nee.

Both, had at the time of this posting, reached the semi-finals of their respective event.

Yeoh in the 3 metres springboard diving.

Hope both guys will do well. I'm hoping they win a medal each. Possibly gold. But even if they can't, we Malaysians surely are still proud of them for doing their best for us all, just like what Lee Chong Wei did.

p.s Hopefully no more moronic tweets by moronic politicians in case the two of them fell short of winning gold.

Chong Wei's patriotism that Manoharan will never understand

It is becoming very clear now that the Pakatan people think  they can get away with anything.They think they can say or do anything and the rakyat will swallow the whole thing and continue to support them. That's how arrogant they have become after their gains in 2008 general election.

It however still came as a shock to me when DAP's Kota Alam Shah assemblyman Manoharan tried to politicise the defeat of national shuttler D Lee Chong Wei at the olympic finals. That's despite me knowing this Manoharan is the same one who mock our Jalur Gemilang and an Islamic cleansing rituals.

These sort of behaviour is becoming a norm nowadays with the Pakatan leaders.

The sad part of it all is that, their loyal supporters are giving them all sorts of excuses for their uncouth behaviour. They don't seem to care that what their idols are doing was undermining efforts to unite Malaysians.

Honestly, when I see someone doing his best for this country like what Chong Wei did, I totally forgot about his race, religion or political affiliation. He is just a good Malaysian doing his best for his country. I sincerely believe that Chong Wei didn't even think about the promises of financial reward if he had won that match. I believe his love for this beautiful country of ours is real. I believe his tears in defeat was tears for not being able to make us Malaysians happy with his victory.

As for Manoharan, he would never understand Chong Wei's patriotism. Manoharan and others like him think that everyone are like them - selfish bigots who do every single thing in their life hoping for a quick return to satisfy their self interests. Manoharan and gang are the ones who went around asking the Queen of England to save them from the murdering Malay government - literally - remember? What could we expect from these sort of people? Vote them to power?

But this monkey of a politician by the name of Manoharan got my blood boiling with his crap tweeting about Chong Wei.

It was heart-breaking. Chong Wei tried his best but the gold medal was just not fated to be his and Malaysians.

It was a closely fought match with Lin Dan winning at 15-21, 21-10, 21-19.

There were however moments when I was so convinced that Chong Wei could win. The support he got was great. I even saw someone in the stands waving a Brunei flag for him. He was for long spells playing superbly. It was not like that final match between the two in Beijing four years ago. Chong Wei went down fighting till the end this time.

Alas, it was not to be....

Personally, Chong Wei is still a Malaysian hero to me  despite the loss.

 It was probably his last big match before retiring. Still Chong Wei will always be remembered as the shining beacon of Malaysian badminton of his generation.

He gave us something to cheer about all these yezrs as our other shuttlers fell short by the wayside.

Thank you Chong Wei, and all the best.

Playing critique to I Choose Malaysia video

It's past midnight, weekend...and I got a fever. He came over during buka puasa time, met me downstairs, brought me some Vietnamese soup, chit chat, then went off. Useless fella never even realised I am sick. Since I'm not the mengada-ngada type, I just kept quiet.

Well, never mind, I got some panadol soluble, should be ok. Just that I can't sleep yet. Bloody sore throat and headache.

Went through the blogs and noticed the I Choose Malaysia video advertisment. It features five senior sopo bloggers - Rocky, Big Dog, Apanama, Outsyed the Box and My Anger.

Again, can't provide the link because of my faulty netbook.

Critique - Rocky looks relatively  natural, Big Dog tried to be cute and succeded to a certain extent eventhough I know he is not actually cute at all, Apanama tried too hard to be sweet which he is not as he is actually a lean mean fighting machine, OutsidetheBox struggles to look at ease in front of the camera which I think he finds hard to do as he is no actor, My Anger put up the best performance except that I have not seen his blog for quite a long while.

Anyway, these five guys, their performance in the video clip aside, are indeed a bunch of good fellas. Salute to them for  their efforts.

Yes, I choose Malaysia too....Taiwan came a very distant second though...just in case the no good Pakatan horde took over and wreck this country.

Pretty Betty on top again

I read with great interest a story in Star today about Pretty Betty getting prettier of late. Very nice. (Sorry, I can't provide the link as this IT device I'm using will try to give me hernia if I try to do such thing. I'm not kidding. Being an insignificant provincial pro-BN blogger, I have to make do with using faulty and outdated equipment)

According to the report, Chinese newspaper Kwang Wah Yit Poh had noted that Pretty Betty who had previously  used to dress mostly in slacks and shorts to achive that career woman look had changed her style to look more elegant.

Pretty Betty Chewy was said to be seen in stylish dresses, complete with tasteful accessories.

She look nice isn't she? Merry boy Guan Eng must be quite contented now....well, he better be....otherwise bigger things than ashtray may fly his way.

Ok lah, I better not write too much....otherwise all those DAP cybertroopers will start moaning and groaning at this blog.

But really lah, Guan Eng better behave after this. otherwise wasted only Betty's effort at being pretty. You hear or not boy boy?

The handsome potential Kedah MB

Was so tired last night that I fallen asleep rather earlier than usual. Now I'm awake too early and as I'm writing this, its 3am. Actually I planned not to post anything for another at least 24 hours so that the Bank Negara's Bafia exploit could be the highlight of this blog for awhile longer. But now I'm just itchy to write something.

Well, this time I want to write about something I'm not really familiar with - Kedah politics. Ok, actually I know a bit about it because I did spend some years in the north, but that's such a long time ago.

What prompts me to write this was a conversation I had the other day with a friend who is a Pas supporter. He claimed to know about Kedah. He said that it's almost certain that Pas is going to replace MB Ustaz Azizan and put a younger man in his place after GE13. He said Azizan is causing factionalism within Kedah Pas and that he has been doing things as an MB not in accordance with the wishes of the party. In fact, some of his actions were said to be suspiciously very "Umnoish".

Ok, I think I had heard all these before. But then came the part which got me feeling that the people of Kedah are being accorded the status of dumb lesser ape by Pas. My Pas friend said that the most suitable person to replace Azizan is this man -

Yes, that's Pas vice-president Mahfuz Omar. I was like....eerrr, isn't the fella never went beyond SPM education? Well, my friend don't really like my tone when I asked that and went on a lecture of how Mahfuz had improved and done well for himself as he rose through the party rank over the years. Knowing the way my friend is, I just kept quiet. You see, when a Pas person starts to give you a lecture about his/her party or leaders, you better shut up. Otherwise the lecture will degenerate into a heated debate and then deteriorates into a full fledge fight. I went through this several times and can't be bothered to go through such nonsense anymore. If my Pas friend want the former airport worker as an MB, then he can go ahead and have him as an MB. After all, I'm not in the business of educating idiots. My only worry for him was that I heard that Mat Sabu was interested to contest somewhere at his old haunt in Kuala Kedah. I think Mat Sabu will be interested to become Kedah MB too. If Mahfuz can habe such an aspiration, why then not Mat Sabu? After all, Mat Sabu being the Pas deputy president out ranks Mahfuz who is a vice-president. Mat Sabu also went beyond SPM education. He studied in ITM (now UiTM)....eerrr, I think if I'm not mistaken, he never finished his studies there. But still, better than Mahfuz la.

Ok, on the BN side, I think the best candidate to be the MB is this guy -

not as handsome as his dad, but ok la...quite educated and pleasant also. 

Bank Negara's brave lady of grace

The Bank Negara was never known to be an institution easily manipulated by politicians in power....except of course for that brief period in the late 90s when Anwar Ibrahim was the finance minister. Well, there was that question about the RM3 billion secret piggy bank, remember?

As it was, when the whole jig was up with Anwar's arrest at that time, the whole thing collapsed. And when Dr Mahathir instituted the monetry control policies to save the country, the then Bank Negara governor resigned, citing his lack of confidence with what the handsome old man was doing.

That's when Zeti Akhtar Aziz took over and without much fuss set things in order.The whole plan of Dr Mahathir worked out brilliantly and Malaysia as we know it then stays as it was, fine and dandy.

Zeti has since developed a reputation of being a super efficient iron lady of Bank Negara. The most amazing thing was that she remains graceful, gentle, soft spoken and mostly unassuming.

Yet, her no nonsense ways was what most of us admire her for. No body mess around with Bank Negara, these days.

And today putting aside potential political backlash, Zeti and her people moved in to arrest PKR's wonderboy strategist extraordinare Rafizi. They charged him under the Banking and Financial Institution Act for allegedly disclosing confidential banking details related to the NFC issue. Of course the Pakatan crowd may now lable Zeti as an Umno stooge for taking action against such a heroic and handsome boy. But, the law is the law, and if you break it for your political gains, then you have to pay for it. We can't afford to have people running around breaking Bafia without any action taken. That will destroy the confidence people have of our financial institutions. And for those who think Rafizi is a hero, do remember that the NFC issue was brought upon by the Auditor General Report, issued by the evil galactic empire of BN government.

Whatever it is, salute for Zeti and her Bank Negara people for acting without fear nor favour.

Frogging, and consequences

As the Bumburing and Lajim duo do their jumping tricks in Sabah, many are speculating that would be the start of the end of BN's dominance in that State.

They are expecting Pakatan to win up to 10 parliament seats in Sabah and this will greatly enhance their chances of taking over Putrajaya.

As the duo were praised for their heroic decision, all were forgotten about the way Pakatan lose Perak when a DAP assemblywoman along with two tainted PKR assemblymen turned independant causing the collapse of the DAP-sponsored and control Pakatan Perak government. The trio, especially Jelapang then DAP rep Hee Yit Foong were subjected to intense condemnation and vile descriptions of their self. Hee, who was a DAP member for more than 20 years were called names which I rather not repeat here. The DAP cybertroopers were out with all guns blazing as Pas members did funny things by rolling themselves (literally) on the streets in protest.

Now, the Pakatan camp seems to be once again confident about their chances following the duo in Sabah frogging over to their side.

 Sabah had been breached, they declared. Also on target now were BN controlled states with high percentage of Chinese population such as Johor, Sarawak and Negri Sembilan. The ultimate end game is to get as many parliamentry seats as they can to pave their way to Putrajaya. Frogging or no frogging doesn't matter if its their side are the ones doing it. Just like that Anwar's Sept 16 big bluff, remember?

Again, what they tried to hide were the troubles they were facing among their ranks, such as the DAP-Pas ding dong over hudud and how they were squabbling over basic things such as allocation of seats for the coming GE. Hee's Jelapang seat is now being sought after by DAP and Parti Sosialis Malaysia. The frogging over in Sabah has actually add to their woes as they now face a major headache to accomodate between the camp of the frogs and the camp of the original Pakatan core members in the state. All want seats for themselves and this bounds to cause a lot of unhappiness in their camp.

Instead of sunshine, the frogs actually brings bad weather, complete with rain, thunder and lightning.
