Extreme flipping and flopping (Updated - Patrick Teoh's insult)

It turned out that the Pas' flip flop over the usage of the word "Allah" by non-Muslims may had some effect on the once popular actor Patrick Teoh of the pro- Pakatan Niamah  blog fame.

The guy went berserk on Facebook and called the Pas people in Kedah "Quran-thumping mother fuckers". It was his response to the Kedah government's directive on Chinese New Year performances.

Well, the "mother fuckers" part I can tolerate, but the "Quran-thumping" part is simply tasteless and shows what sorts of person Patrick really is. He must have kept it deep in his heart all these while but can't keep it down anymore as Pas starts to lately defy DAP on Islamic issues.

Or maybe Patrick is just taking a cue from Guan Eng, that it is nowadays fashionable to insult and push the Muslims up the wall.

Hey! What are they gonna do to us, eh? We are the king makers in this country now. We can insult the Muslims all we want. When the Muslims make noise, we just apologize lah. That will shut them up, ya. The Muslims are after all so wishy washy and flipping and flopping, aren't them?

Ok, Patrick apologized as  expected, but just read through it and you know that he is not really sorry. Here is his apology -

‘Whoa!!!… whoa… whoa… I now realise what I did that was wrong and why it generated so much hate-mail. I had thought that the criticism came from my use of the phrase, “Quran-thumping m***** F*****…” I was wrong. It came from my reference to “Give up individuality and be sheep? Pray 5 times a day? Cover up all women?” which was totally out of line. It didn’t convey what I was trying to say in the post and came out like a bigoted selfish statement. For that I apologise sincerely to all Muslims. Minta maaf (Sorry). But I do not apologise for calling that person a…well you know what I mean. I hope.”

“On good advice I am taking down the offensive post immediately. I am doing this not because I am censoring myself but to avoid causing further hurt to my fellow Malaysians whom I respect. Thank you.,”

It's like slapping someone for no good reason and then say "Eh, sakit ka? Sorry ya, but actually you deserved to be slapped, ok?"

And as Muslims, we are nowadays expected to accept such an apology.

Well, Pas people, there you have it. Next time go la play around again with these people who think of you all as nothing more than just tools for their political ambitions.

What Patrick Teoh called you all are what many of them also think of you all. Too bad for them that Patrick can't keep his big old man's mouth shut. Now we all know what they think of us Muslims.

Still want to be stupid and be together gather with them? Well, go ahead la and have fun.

Been busy since Monday. Classes started. Well, they are not really classes but more like research works. Getting to get the hang of things here. Unfortunately not much time for reading news from back home, let alone do any posting till now.

Ok, I think the most interesting Malaysian political news since the Pakatan rally on Saturday should be the decision by the Pas' Syura Council that the word "Allah" shouldn't be used in the Malay-version of the Bible. So, according to them non-Muslims shouldn't be using the word "Allah" after all. That's effectively Pas' stand on the matter now.

It's however glaringly contradicted the earlier stand of party president DS Abdul Hadi Awang and spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat that non-Muslims may use the word Allah to describe their Gods. Well, that was before Pas detected a surge of disapproval among especially Muslims in the Peninsular once they made that stand on the matter. Pas is after all a political party and decisions were to be made based on popularity....not very religious eh, but that's the way it is. So, change of stand lah. Very convenient liao.

I think now the Pas people are not even sure where the party's stand when it comes to even the most basics of theological issues. Sometimes it is like this and sometimes it is like that. I think the needs to please its secular allies the DAP and PKR while maintaining its Islamic credentials are muddling the brain of Pas leaders.

All these made me wonder how these people are going to be if they ever get to the seats of power in Putrajaya. At least the flipping and flopping of the unfortunate Pak Lah's administration didn't screw around when it comes to dealing with such sensitive religious issues. These Pakatan people are likely to flip flop even on even the smallest matters, just like what Pas did on the word  "Allah" issue.

Meanwhile, DAP sec-gen Lim Guan Eng who started the whole Allah issue mess had cleverly been keeping quiet. If I am a Pas leader, I would be very pissed off with Guan Eng for putting my party in a spot.

As far as I'm concerned, it shows Guan Eng's true feelings towards Pas. He doesn't care what Pas has to go through to explain such a difficult issue to its core Malay Muslim supporters.

All Guan Eng care about is how DAP could capitalize as much as possible from its relationship with Pas or any other of its allies. Once DAP got what it wants, it would not care what happened to its partners.

That was exactly how DAP's mother party, the PAP of Singapore behaves before assuming power.

Once they are in power, they get rid of the "baggages".

Weird Pakatan Muslims

Been exploring Tainan the whole day, walking and walking and walking....really enjoyed the sightseeing...but tiring leh.

Now I am about to sleep. It is past midnight.

Thought of checking out news from home first, especially the Pakatan rally in KL. Stumbled upon something very weird. I saw this picture and question at  Terkini: Mana Satu Arah Kiblat Penyokong Pakatan Rakyat?  and it made me wonder what had went wrong with the Pakatan Muslim followers attending their parties' rally at Stadium Merdeka yesterday -

I am not very religious but I do know that there is only one direction to the Kiblat in Mecca and Muslims are supposed to pray facing that direction. It was not as if they are praying at separate locations. They were actually just a few meters apart and definitely can see the directions of Kiblat chosen by each others. Or did they?

I texted my journalist friend back in Malaysia to verify the authenticity of the picture. He happened to be covering the rally and was inside the stadium when the prayers were performed. He confirmed seeing the weird thing happening. It was right after the azan of the Zohor prayers. The picture was indeed authentic. The Pakatan Muslims did pray facing different directions.

Were the Pakatan Muslims being blinded from seeing the right direction of the Kiblat due to their willingness to let Guan Eng politicized the word "Allah" for his vested political interests? WAllahualam (Only Allah knows).

My own little GE13 (Updated: An appeal to Pakatan people)

Just hours after I started my little GE13 in this blog, I discovered that I need to urgently appeal for Pakatan supporters and cybertroopers who are kind enough to visit or troll this blog to cast their votes.

This is necessary because as I am writing this, 103 visitors of this blog had casted their votes and an overwhelming 90 of them, or 87 per cent of those who took part had voted for BN. The other 13 either voted for Pakatan or just don't give a crap. This is not good for Pakatan's image, ok?

Despite this blog being pro-BN, I believe a significant number of its visitors are pro-Pakatan. This is based on the fact that this blog received more comments from pro-Pakatan visitors than pro-BN. I think if you have been following this blog for quite awhile, you would agree with that assessment.

Or, I could probably be wrong in the sense that the Pakatan supporters are not actually that many but they are the vocal ones. BN supporters who in this case should be in the majority on the other hand are the quiet type who don't talk much and just wait for polling day to teach the Pakatan kepoh people a lesson.

Whatever it is, I think this is reflective of what is happening on the ground. As the Pakatan people geared up themselves to create a ruckus at their rally in Stadium Merdeka tomorrow, the BN people are just bidding their time for the general election which will be held just a few weeks from now.

News from home is that the Pakatan people can't seem to wait for the general election which is just a few weeks from now. They are organizing a rally tomorrow dubbed Himpunan Kebangkitan Rakyat....or something like that. Rocky rather cheekily called it

Since the Pakatan people can't seems to wait, I have decided that I can't wait either.

So, I'm going to have my own mini general election in this blog.

You all are invited to cast your vote at the top right corner of this blog page.

I hope for the DAP cybertroopers to take part too. The more the merrier, ya?

The thing will run throughout the remainder of this month and the whole of next month. The purpose is for you all to have a bit of insight as to which way the election may be decided when you go to cast your votes on the actual polling day.

Well, at least my little election will not involve any risk of violence like the Pakatan's rally.

Me going vegetarian, Guan Eng going North Gangnam style

Arrived in Tainan late yesterday evening. Really enjoyed the drive down south. Tempted to write about it here, but decided not to as this is a sopo and not a travel blog. Don't want to bore the core readers of this blog. Maybe I will set-up a separate blog for that.

Tainan

For this posting, I actually would like to announce that I had decided to be a vegetarian, at least for the duration of my stay in Taiwan.

It is the easiest way to avoid the hassle of explaining my Muslim dietary habits. Most of my non-Muslim friends thought that I just can't eat pork. I even have this problem with my Chinaman, who has been with me for many years. He has been innocently trying to feed me all sorts of funny things.

As for the most interesting political story back home, I think it should be this one

So very easy in DAP liao.

Well, I think Guan Eng and the gang will handle our democratic rights the same way once they take over Putrajaya. Any problem can kowtim one. Anyone not happy can write in through "proper channels"...of course the channels lead to the waste basket lah or even worse - the DAP's black list.

As we all know, PAP of Singapore which is the big brother of DAP, did the same thing on its path to power. Party members who opposed the leadership style were forced to leave the party. This is exactly what is happening in DAP now. Both PAP and DAP are using the same dictatorial template.

Bear in mind that once PAP gained absolute power in Singapore, it not only forced  party members who opposed the leadership out of the party, but also jailed them or forced them into exile. Looking at the way Guan Eng is throwing his tantrums North Gangnam style every time things don't go his way, I think it will not be impossible to imagine him doing the same to not just dissenting DAP members but also us ordinary citizens once he has such power.

Be cool and don't take the Guan Eng's bait

Woke up too early again. It is dark and raining outside. The temperature should be around 12 degree Celsius. Hopefully it stops raining in a little while. Need to go to the university to settle some stuff. My classes starts next week.

Later in the afternoon, I will join my friend Mr Yuen and three other foreign students, two from Hong Kong and another from PRC on a road trip to the southern old city of Tainan.

We are going to spend the weekend there. Hopefully the weather improves.

Meanwhile, back in Malaysia, the political nonsense there shows no sign of letting up.

DAP is trying to stretch the "Allah" issue as much as they can. I think they are benefitting immensely from the issue which was rekindled by their sec-gen Lim Guan Eng whom in his Christmas message last month demanded for the BN federal government to allow the use of the word "Allah" in Malay language Bible. The issue seems to unite the non-Muslims against the BN government while splitting the Muslims with the Pas Muslims supporting Guan Eng's demand while the other Muslims opposing it.

Umno, on its part have been relatively quiet about the issue. They seem to be playing it smart this time and ignored the DAP's provocation. It is clearly DAP's wish for the Umno leaders to respond aggressively so that they can turn around and accuse Umno as being racists and using religion to gain political mileage whilst it was them who are actually doing so. Karpal Singh even dragged in the Sikhs who all these while have no trouble with the Muslims in this country. Want to even pick up a fight with the Sultan of Selangor as if he is such a great defender of the Sikh religion. Karpal, you and your sons are devoutly religious  Sikhs ka?

Well, there are of course a few not so smart Umno people who tries to be a hero for personal glory. So, when that irritatingly loud mouthed Deputy Education Minister Puad Zarkashi opened his mouth, the DAP immediately jumped on it. You can read about it here

DAP lodges report against BM Bible allegations

Well, I hope the rest of Umno and other Muslims remain calm. The non-Muslims are not your enemy. Just remember that the whole mess was created by Guan Eng and his supporters including those from Pas and PKR. They are the ones who are trying to gain political milage by using the "Allah" issue. I hope Malaysians realized this and do the right thing for the future of our country.

I don't think that any right thinking Malaysian would want our multi-racial and multi-religious country which has been progressing well over the past half a century (despite being led by a BN government which have been accused as being racists, corrupt and evil) be torn apart just to satisfy the lust for more power of individuals such as Guan Eng and his gang.

Selling the word "Allah" for votes

Things are not looking very well back in Malaysia.

As election draws near, political parties which feel that they are losing support are throwing caution to the wind. It doesn't matter to them anymore if there are going to be instability in the country caused by their action. All that matter for them is to sustain the chance of taking over the country.

Pas president DS Abdul Hadi Awang led a press conference yesterday afternoon which was attended by PKR's DS Anwar Ibrahim and DAP's Lim Kit Siang. He announced that Pakatan is making a stand that non-Muslims may use the word "Allah" to refer to their Gods.

Barely hours earlier on the same afternoon, the Sultan of Selangor had decreed that the word Allah should be used exclusively by Muslims. The Sultan must have understood the sensitivities of Muslims on this matter, especially among those in the Peninsular.

But of course the Pakatan leaders don't care what the Sultan has to say. They don't seem want to back off from being seen as champions of the non-Muslims. Anwar even suggested that the Selangor Religious Council (Mais) which issued the statement by the Sultan had acted independently and maliciously against the Pakatan.

DAP chairman Karpal Singh was even more blatant when he called upon the AG to investigate the Sultan's decree as he argued that it infringed on the constitutional rights of especially Sikhs whom he said on occasions referred to their God as Allah. Well, singh is king indeed, ya Karpal?

Back to Hadi, it appeared that he didn't even want to wait for the party's syura council meeting this Saturday where the party's ulama leadership was supposed to discuss the matter and issue their official stand. The Pas syura council chief Datuk Harun Taib had two days ago made a statement against allowing the non-Muslims to use the word "Allah" to refer to their Gods. Harun had also taken a swipe at other Pas leaders who supported such an idea, describing them as acting as if they have more religious knowledge than the Pas ulama. Well, Harun, looks like Hadi and his band of funny men such as Mat Sabu had checkmated the ulama. They value Anwar and Kit Siang more than you all.

It was also noted that Kit Siang has been quiet despite attending the press conference and had let Hadi and Anwar talked. His son, Guan Eng had started all these when he issued that Christmas  message demanding for the BN federal government to allow the use of the word "Allah" for the Bahasa Malaysia Bible to be expended to the Peninsular. Guan Eng had similarly been quiet after casting the stone. Both father and son are probably now enjoying themselves watching the Malay muslims on both side of the political divide dancing to the tune they had set as part of their schemings for power.

As to why all these are bad for Malaysia - it sets a precedent whereby Islam will no longer have the privilage of being sanctioned as a rung higher than the other religions courtesy of its status as the country's official religion. It will also pave the way for other demands for more concessions by the Muslims. There will then come a point whereby the Muslims will feel that they are being pushed to the wall and retaliated in not so pleasant manner. This is not fear mongering but a reality which if we choose to ignore will consume us all and destroy our beloved Malaysia.

Of course people such as Hadi, Anwar and Kit Siang will say that my assertions here were false. That's because all that matter for them now are votes. Votes mean power....that's all that they care....it is as simple as that. They don't care if this country will later on burn in a fire fueled by their greed for power.

An editor and a pinch of salt

Well, in the first place, Jahabar shouldn't get upset over the whole thing. After all, Malaysian Insider is free to choose what it wishes to highlight and so does the MSM. Fair and square, isn't it? Malaysia got freedom of the Press liao. Why got so upset my friend?

Anyway, is it really true that the allegedly pro-BN MSM doesn't highlight corruption cases involving BN people? Are you sure Jahabar? You are once part of the MSM, aren't you? Ever heard of the court or crime reporters being instructed not to cover such cases? As far as I know, if there is a case, and the story is good enough for publication, the MSM reporters will be there to cover it.

The MSM, however, will not go around chasing after baseless allegations, notwithstanding if it involves Pakatan or BN people. Mind you, the supposedly BN-friendly media are also susceptible to legal suits by BN people and had in fact been in the past suffered from such actions.

Had Malaysian Insider ever been sued by Pakatan people? I'm not sure on that one. You tell me, can?

But I do know that Malaysian Insider had been dragged to court for simply simply publishing stories based on some wild allegations. Malaysian Insider lost that case and Jahabar himself had to apologize to the aggrieved party as part of the settlement. You can read the story (by Malaysian Insider) here -

Well, back to the allegation that the MSM are pro-BN, blogger Helen Ang doesn't seems to agree with that assertion by the Pakatan people and those who support them, like Jahabar. Helen had been going on and on about certain MSM which she claims to be actually pro-Pakatan and I had been following her arguments with much interest for quite sometimes now. Here is Helen's latest entry on that particular matter -

I did once asked a MSM journalist friend on how to detect a surely pro-Pakatan people among his colleagues, and his reply was rather funny - "The sure pro- Pakatan journalists working for the MSM are former NST reporters now working for the Star." My reaction to that was " Biar betul engkau".....well, anyway, maybe it's just a joke among them MSM journalists....honestly, I don't know.

Meanwhile, I had added the website of

as one of my favorite sources of news. I believe it's the oldest and most reputable  English newspaper in Taiwan.

Nizar should claim for the Chinese sufferings too

I read with much amusement the claim by Pas' former Perak MB DS Nizar Jamaluddin that the Japanese government had paid RM207 billion to its Malaysian counterpart as compensation for the death and suffering of those forced to built the Death Railway linking Thailand and Burma during the Second World War.

It's not a joke, ok? Nizar alleged that the RM207 billion had then been swindled by the BN leader of the government at that time, which is sometime in the 1990s. That means the leader is Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Wah! That means the old man is not only handsome but also worth at least RM207 billion. He could had used the money to bribe all those Umno people into keeping him in power till he die liao....silly man went on to resign and get bullied by Khairy's gang pulak, eh.

(Note - I have to keep on repeating the amount of RM207 billion here as that is a lot of money.)

Back to SatD's question on whether the Pakatan politicians were on drug....well, I don't think so lah. They are just like that - they are either irrationally shallow or stupid. They will try to capitalize from everything under the sun to the point of compromising their own level of intelligence. Their hope is for the people to be of even less intelligence then them so that they will believe those crazy stories.

Anyway, I don't blame SatD for suspecting Nizar as being under the influence of drug when he made the RM207 billion claim. If you all had ever attended one of those Nizar's ceramah, you may also think that he is perpetually under the influence of even heavier drug than LSD. His raving and ranting may scare you, ok?

One thing which seriously bothers me though about Nizar's claim was that - how come he only chases the money for the Death Railway victims, who are mostly Malays? As we all know, the Chinese suffered the most during the Japanese occupation. Nizar should stressed that the Japanese pay for the Chinese sufferings too. Go la and accuse Tun M of swindling the Japanese compensation money for the Chinese. I think the amount, if it exist, would be even bigger than the RM207 billion that he claimed for the Death Railway workers.

Well, the reason for this, I think is that Nizar's purpose for the claim is not that he cares so much for the Death Railway workers, but instead because Pas need to win as many Malay votes as they can get. Promise of RM2 million or RM3 million per person/family sure can get them that. This kind of nonsense will sells among the Malays. It will not however sells among the Chinese. The Chinese will straight away know that these are all bullshit. Where got such thing as easy money like that. For Chinese, they generally believe that to be rich, they must work hard. Prosperity doesn't come rolling down the hill just like that. That's why Nizar was not even bothered to sell his preposterous claim to the Chinese.

In Taiwan, the Japanese occupation of the island for 50 years till 1945 was regarded as the starting period of modernization for the country. The Taiwanese, true to their Chinese cultural heritage are practical people. They took the best of the Japanese occupation legacy and apply it for the betterment of their society. It is another thing which we (especially Malays) could learn from them so that we do not get so easily conned by the likes of Nizar.

Somebody send me an email reminding me of my earlier promise not to write too much fluffy personal stuff. Thanks. Yup, I remember that, and will try not to do so too much from now. It was just this moving to Taiwan thing got me a bit emotional and ended up writing about my inconsequential self.

Anyway, please let me indulge myself a bit more here just for record purposes -

Arrived in Taipei late yesterday afternoon. It was raining and the temperature was about 10 degrees Celsius. No problem there as I came prepared with my winter clothing. The handsome Mr Yuen from the university who is going to be my study partner here was waiting to take me to my new place. He is going to help me with the researches, translations and stuff. Thanks Mr Yuen.

Well, shuzheng, I had actually been to mainland China. Yes, it's a really amazingly beautiful country and I like the people I met there very much. However, the communist government is too strict on the people la. This blog is actually banned in that country. I can't accessed it there. My Chinese friends said it's probably because of this blog's pro-Taiwanese stand...well, I don't know lah...maybe.

My new place is not bad at all. Very comfy. The landlady is nice and can speak a bit of English. Well, her English is actually better than my horribly rudimentary Mandarin, which she totally can't understand. Really need to speed up my learning of the language.

Been checking out the news from home since waking up just now. The pro-BN bloggers were hantaming the DAP for their funny party election mixed-up claims. Guess the no Malay elected to their central executive committee (CEC) issue really hurts them that they have to resort to such tricks. Well Guan Eng, it's not going to work la. It will actually makes things worse for your party and your Pakatan allies. Where got such thing as a mixed-up like that. You said DAP is so efficient what, how can it be like that one? Eh, I think the other bloggers had written extensively on it, so that I don't have to elaborate too much. Enough to say that Guan Eng, being not so intelligent himself thought the people, especially the Malays could be fooled by such an insulting charade. Well boy boy, you got it wrong this time and will suffer for it, this coming elections.

It's still too early and cold to go out. I'm just going to have some cereal for breakfast and go out later to do a bit of shopping. Maybe in the afternoon, and if the weather permits, I will try to go for a walk at the nearby park in front of the mosque. I'm planning to do that as an exercise routine.

A little rambling before departure

I'm a bit too early at the airport. So, got some time to do a posting. The wi-fi at this airport is however rather crappy.

I'm alone at the moment. Will only meet up with my Chinaman during transit at KLIA. He better be there to send me off. Otherwise, I will just get myself a replacement Chinaman in Taipei....hahaha...just kidding.

Well, in case you are wondering, I will be staying at the Da'an district in Taipei. The apartment (a room at an apartment, actually) is somewhere not far from the Taipei Grand Mosque and within cycling distance from where I will be studying. Ya, I'm definitely going to buy myself a bicycle. Just like I have always planned.

As for this blog, I'm going to continue with it depending on my schedule. Hopefully I got some time for it. Told my friends to keep me in the loop especially for these crucial next few weeks before the general election. I will then do my best with the writings from where I am.

But seriously, I really think that the Pakatan people are sorts of depleted of ideas and energy at the moment. The biggest issue they are playing now is allegations against the PM's wife. Those allegations, which were not actually new were not even properly substantiated except for words of some dodgy characters. They know they can't get directly at Najib because the PM has been doing very well, so they are attacking his wife. Rather pathetic, isn't it? Unlike the wife of Guan Eng and Anwar Ibrahim, Rosmah is not even a politician, and yet they still attacked her.
